Barcelona is the circuit every team knows better than any other, having tested here for decades. That familiarity is exactly what makes it revealing: nobody has an excuse, and the finishing order tends to reflect the real order of the field.

What the lap demands

A demanding lap with a long opening straight, a fast middle sector and a slow final section that punishes any car lacking front-end grip. Sustained high-speed corners make it a hard test of aerodynamic performance.

How the racing unfolds

Following through the fast corners costs a lot of front tyre performance, which historically made passing difficult. The removal of the old chicane restored the fast final corner and helped, but this is still a track where track position is worth defending.
